About Us - The story of our premium & unique puzzle brand

Hi,I'm Aditya, the creator of Ameya Games. I’ve always been a kid at heart and a divergent thinker. Over the years, I worked as a primary grades teacher in a public school, as a game designer at a startup and also worked as a freelance software product engineer. Ameya Games marks the beginning of my journey as an entrepreneur. I've always enjoyed doing puzzles and brain teasers as a kid but I always had limited choice outside of puzzle books. Over time my enthusiasm for play and games moved from puzzle books and cricket to video games and later led me to design some video games and software products myself.

Then 2020 happened. During those lockdown months, I discovered wooden jigsaw puzzles online and was instantly fascinated by their superior quality and experience. Turns out they have been around for more than a hundred years! How come I never got to see one since I was a kid growing up in India? The problem was threefold - that of discoverability, availability and price. Having spent nearly a decade as a teacher, designer and developer, I saw an opportunity to bring a modern aesthetic to a classic hobby many of us have enjoyed since we were young. I knew there had to be a way to bring the quality and beauty and creativity of wooden puzzles to more people at an approachable price point to the puzzlers and game enthusiasts in India. I also wanted to get away from boring artwork and imagery to bring classic and modern puzzle and game concepts to the tabletop. We, at Ameya Games, put together play and creativity to make some really beautiful and delightful games and puzzles. With each product we sell, our hope is to inspire you to think creatively, feel the beauty of each unique piece that you hold in your hand and rediscover the joy of puzzling and gaming. And, given the fast paced and highly noisy and distracting world we are in, the bonus benefit is that puzzling helps people to calm down, relax and unwind. Don’t believe me? Find out for yourself.

Happy Puzzling!
Aditya
